Learn about primitive fire starting methods in this quick demonstration! Have you ever wondered how different cultures used fire in their daily fight to survive? Come to a quick presentation and learn about different fire starting methods used by the indigenous people (and the settlers) of East Texas.  Rangers will cover why fire was important in the past, and why it is important today.  The rangers will also demonstrate how to start a fire using a flint and steel. The program will last about 30 minutes and will begin at the amphitheater located next to the Activity Center.

We recommend bringing a bottle of water and wearing comfortable, flat shoes when participating in any activity.  Restrooms are available at the Headquarters, Activity Center, Marina, and in each camping loop.  Leashed pets welcome! Regular park admission fees of $5 per adult ages 13 and up apply; no additional charge for activities.  No reservations necessary.
