Hike Houston Arboretum & Nature Center

One of the jewels of Houston is the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center on the south side of Memorial Park. If you’re feeling stressed or just out-of-sorts, head to the Arboretum for some peaceful outdoor rejuvenation. While there, head out on one of the many hiking loops in the park. Most of these are short hikes take you past native plants where you can learn which plant would be perfect your yard. The trails include the Palmetto Multi-Sensory Trail, Carol Tatkon Sensory Garden, Alice Brown Loop/Ravine Overlook, R.A. Vines Trail, Outer Loop, Coggie Pearson Trail, Meadow Pond & Observation Decks, Charlotte Couch Birding Platform, and the Biomimicry Trail. There is a nice visitor’s center with facilities and knowledgeable docents to teach you about the Center. If you haven’t had enough hiking, you can walk out the front entrance and head east for trails in Memorial Park.
