Hike Galveston Island State Park

This weeks hike is to go to the bay side of Galveston Island State Park and hike the many trails and loops. There are suggested trails on the Galveston Island State Park map but I have listed all the loops and trails below.

  • Freshwater Pond Loop .68
  • Freshwater Pond .25
  • Duck Lake .19
  • Prairie Trail .80
  • Caracara .37
  • Jenkins .30
  • Clapper Rail Loop .46
  • Clapper Rail .53
  • Egret Loop .48

If you were to hike each one of these including the short walks between trails you could expect to get in between 4.5 and 5 miles. The wildlife is amazing both in the water and in the air and the views across the bay are beautiful. Bring a hat, sun screen and water since there is not much shade. There is a nature center on the bay side with restrooms so make sure you tailor your walk to visit as often as needed. This is a state park so you must pay your entry fee when you get there.
