Texas Parks and Wildlife is hosting the 6th annual Take Me Outdoors Houston event Saturday, September 13 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Discovery Green. This free event is open to everyone, especially families with activities such as fishing, paddling, crafts, buffalo soldiers, and a live Birds of Prey demonstration. Now in its sixth year, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department event enlists multiple partners who provide hands-on activities, booths and opportunities to engage audiences who haven’t ever or don’t often get exposure to the great outdoors. A focus of the event is to give Houstonians information on the great outdoor resources we have right here in Houston and the Gulf Coast. With our first cold front of the fall coming this weekend, what a great way to get outdoors – unless you are riding in the Park to Port Bike Ride, or the Cypress Creek Regatta or the Boat Parade down Buffalo Bayou. The good news is that all those events should be over by noon, giving you plenty of time to get to Discovery Green.
